Accomodating different learning styles
Haar, Hall, Schoepp & Smith (2002) define learning styles as “individual differences in the way information is perceived, processed, and communicated.” There are two main points to cover when discussing learning styles.
The first part is the specifics of each learning style.
Students feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment.
Flexible seating allows students to choose where they work and with whom.
It also allows them to change their location and positions as needed.
Flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength.
Do not like written work and reading, and therefore, are often labeled as “not applying themselves.” 9.
Ask numerous questions to better understand the information, and this is often perceived as “not paying attention.” 8.
Remember, learning styles are how people learn successfully.In turn, this burns more calories and increases metabolism.It also helps keep young minds more alert and focused.There are three main types of learning styles – visual, auditory and kinesthetic.It’s important to know how to recognise students’ learning styles and know how to teach each type.
Various researchers have created different tools that categorize the way people acquire and retain information.
